Hi. I'm Ivy.

I'm a NYC based art director and designer that's as obsessed with beauty as you are (if you're reading this).

Clean, green and at CVS // SKINFIX CLEANSE & MOISTURIZE

It took me years of not washing my makeup off my face every day to realize it was the grossest thing in the world.

Worse than leaving dirty dishes in the sink. Worse than wearing the same pair of underwear 2 days in a row (shudder). Worse than eating something off the floor (5 second rule!). So, pretty bad. But I know I'm not the only one who's done this. And I know I'm not the only one who did this for years...

When you are young (well younger than I now am at 30), you don't worry about your skin. You don't see aging. You don't think past one day in the future. And, you DO think if some cute boy sees your face without makeup, maybe he won't like you so much anymore. So you put it on when you wake up, and you wear it to bed, and there it stays. It festers on your face mixing with your sweat and oils, day after day after day.

I'm sad to say it took meeting and falling in love with my husband to change this horrible routine. He loves how I look without makeup, and suddenly I stopped worrying about him seeing me "sans face." I wish I would have been strong enough to make that leap on my own. Nevertheless, I got there eventually. Now, on the weekends I typically go barefaced (unless I'm feeling experimental).

All of this is to say that once I actually started cleansing my face every night, I needed something to cleanse with. I tried creamy formulas. I tried harsh scrubs (foolishly thinking they would rid me of acne). Overall I tried a lot of products, but didn't like any of them. But in the last few months I've found something I actually do like (a whole lot) in SkinFix.

It's a small miracle to have found a clean, green skincare brand at the drug store. I picked up SkinFix's Foaming Oil Cleanser and the Hydrating Lotion about a month ago from CVS, and haven't looked back since. If you're into oil cleansers (or have been in the market to try one out), you'll be obsessed with this one. When mixed with water it forms a creamy, foaming lather that easily removes all makeup, and softens sensitive skin. Why is oil better to cleanse with, you ask? Because "like dissolves like." Cleansing with oils (like olive, coconut, and jojoba) nurtures the skin and balances the production of your own natural oils, while removing dirt and makeup. Contrary to popular belief, oil cleansers don't contribute to oily skin and they are great for all skin types.

The Hydrating Lotion is perfect for daily moisturization. It lacks any fragrance or irritants, and I've found one pump covers my whole face (and a little of my neck). If you visit their website, you'll find a full list of phenomenal ingredients they DO use, and all the stuff they leave out of their products. As always, I love me some nice packaging. The simplicity and sleekness of these semi-matte, turquoise bottles with easy-to-use pumps, is hard to say no to. They look pretty damn good inside my medicine cabinet. It's just good stuff, that you can now easily get, at a good price.

All I do is win win win.
