Love, true love // AXIOLOGY BEAUTY LIPSTICKS
When I started this blog, this was the kind of the post that I was most excited about writing. Something so good, I literally couldn't wait to sing its praises from on high.
Most beauty fans seem to all have one thing in common. They love lipstick. Like, really really LOVE lipstick. It's the universal achilles heel for any makeup maven. A great lip color has the power to completely brighten your face, stop traffic, and even seduce. There's something incredibly liberating about trying a color you never thought you could pull off, and having it magically work. Or surprising someone who knows you so well with one simple swipe. The best case scenario; you discover a color that feels like it was made for you and it makes your whole day better.
That's what happened to me when I got my first Axiology Beauty lipstick in the mail. I had been doing my research on green beauty lip products when Axiology first came across my screen. It has been lauded as a true luxury product for the discerning cosmetics buyer. Frankly, it didn't take much to convince me I had to try it.
I ordered the shade 'Worth'. They describe it as a "a bittersweet red with undertones of warm tangerine." I'd say that's spot on, and more elegant than anything I'd come up with. When the lipstick arrived, it was not alone... Axiology also sent a complimentary stick of their Peppermint Orange Lip Balm (which is AMAZING), and two additional samples of other lip colors ('Elusive' and 'Fundamental') they thought I might like given my purchase.
Let's talk about packaging for a hot second. Axiology's boxes are all sourced from Bali, and made by a woman-owned recycled-paper boutique. The paper used is collected from all over the island and taken to a small factory. It’s then boiled down to a pulp, dried in the sun, and finally folded and decorated by hand. So every box is special, unique, and literally made from trash. That in and of itself is amazing. But what's inside the box, is even better. A slim metallic gold tube encloses the lipstick bullet. With a simple satisfying click on the bottom, the bullet pops out and reveals the color inside. The whole thing feels very James Bond-esque.
All of these gorgeous touches are bonuses though. The reason to buy is the lipstick itself. The color is rich, creamy, and super pigmented. It feels amazing on your lips, applies so smoothly you'd think it was butter, and makes a real statement. It's a triple threat. I have applied both straight from the bullet, and with a lip brush. The brush definitely makes it easier to get clean lines, but I generally don't mind a softer-edged look. If you want it really crisp, you will need a lip liner first. The color takes a bit to set, and even then it never full dries down. These are not your Kylie Lip Kit style-lips. They will fade with food, and before fully setting, have a fair amount of transfer (so low-key the kissing 💋). Personally, I prefer more moisturizing lipsticks, and don't mind reapplying long as they feel good to wear. But if you're looking for something that won't budge, this is not the product for you.
My only problem with discovering and falling in love with Axiology, is now I'm addicted. But I promise to keep calm, and wait for the next special event (you know, like a Tuesday...) to order a second color. I implore you to consider adding one of these beauties to your collection. I have a feeling you'll fall madly in love, as I have.
