Flossin' on that flawless // JUICE BEAUTY PHYTO-PIGMENTS FLAWLESS SERUM FOUNDATION
I never thought buying a foundation would make me nervous. But when you're dealing with "GOOP world," it's hard not to be a little nervous.
GOOP world belongs to one Gwyneth Paltrow. She's the queen of things like Jade Vagina Eggs and Prada Flashlights... so not really a person I look to emulate. But the Juice Beauty line became hard to ignore. There it was, just sitting there on Anthropologie store shelves... all pretty and chic.
I've already talked a little about how replacing my previous foundation has been the hardest part of this green beauty transition. I found me a great stick foundation for on the go, but was still looking for a more perfecting liquid option. The Juice Beauty Phyto-Pigments Flawless Serum Foundation (woof what a name) caught my eye. Every review I read was positive. Everyone was talking about it. Even the girl behind the counter at Anthro said to me, "Ooooh I love this stuff!"
I purchased the shade 'Sand' but only after trying it out in store. I'm really glad I did, because I almost ordered online. Had I done so I would have ordered the completely wrong shade for me. So if you have the opportunity to try it out before purchasing, I suggest you do. For my skin, Sand is the perfect light to medium neutral with a yellow undertone.
I have only used a brush to apply this foundation (my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush). I can tell you right now, it won't work with fingers. I've been a little off of the sponge bandwagon recently (call it a mood swing). But with a great buffing brush, this applies beautifully. You have to work somewhat quickly as it dries on the fast side. I have found that one pump (maybe an extra half a pump on a bad day) covers my whole face & neck.
The first time I used it, I got really worried. In the mirror I thought it looked like I was wearing makeup, which is never the goal. But after it set and I went out in daylight, I'll be the first to admit I caught my reflection in a car window and had a true Zoolander moment. Cause, damn, it looked good. Flawless you might even say. The best part about this foundation is that it gives you the coverage you might want to blanket your blemishes and imperfections, but it doesn't dry down completely matte and flat. It still gives your skin a luminous glow not typical of your average full coverage base. I love combining it with my RMS Beauty Un Cover-up in shade 22.
After using it for almost a full month, I finally feel confident in recommending you give it a go. It's not the cheapest at a cool $42, but it's because of its longevity (a bottle will last you a good while), and its high quality, I believe it's worth the cost of purchase. It's also packaged really beautifully in a matte glass bottle with a metal pump and cap. This is something that will not only appeal to green beauty lovers, but all beauty lovers.
So, go ahead. Wake up, flawless.
