Do I see a difference? // THE CLARISONIC MIA FIT & BEYOND
The number one question I get asked since switching to green beauty (other than "what products should I buy?") has been, "have you noticed a difference in your skin?"
I was fully prepared to answer "No, and that's not the number one reason why I did this," to those people... But surprisingly, even in this short amount of time, the answer is a resounding "Yes."
Yes, I still battle intermittent hormonal acne, but my skin has actually been noticeably clearer. Yes, I still have texture on my chin, but overall my skin has been softer and more naturally glowy. To top it off, when I had had acne pop-up, I have found my skin to heal much faster.
I am just as shocked as you might be. The skeptic in me truly didn't expect to see results this quickly. But it's given me all the more reason to stay dedicated, and continue on.
So, what exactly have I been doing? Here's a snapshot of my new routine.
Every morning I use a little bit of serum (currently been using the Truth Serum by Ole Henriksen as received in a Influenster Vox Box), followed by my SkinFix facial moisturizer, and eye cream. Having that moisturizing base means my makeup goes on smoothly and I haven't needed any additional primer. Most of the makeup I have been using most recently has been coconut oil based (like RMS). Not only do I like the glowy look it gives, but it feels like it helps my skin to heal when I put it over any blemishes. I am not by nature someone who piles on the makeup layers anyway, so using this beauty reboot as an excuse to go even more natural has been welcome. If I'm feeling sassy I may do a little more on the eye, and if I'm feeling bold, I'll add in a statement lip. Eye liner is still typically a daily thing for me, although I have started to feel a little more comfortable without it.
As far as my evening routine goes, I am proud to say I have stopped using makeup remover wipes and now only use my SkinFix Oil Cleanser to remove all makeup (it's really that easy). Not using makeup wipes has changed my life. My skin feels less abused and cleaner without them! Then I do the same routine with the serum, followed by moisturizer, and eye cream. If my lips need to be exfoliated, I throw that in there with either my Fresh Sugar Lip Polish or a DIY one.
And now, at least 2-3 times a week, I have been using a wonderful Christmas gift given to me this year (thanks to my mother-in-law), the Clarisonic Mia Fit. On nights when I double cleanse with the Clarisonic, I really do notice a difference in the morning in terms of skin texture and softness. Clarisonic will tell you to use it every day, but I'm not sold on doing it quite that often. It is the perfect tool because using it is easy (no big undertaking), plus the facial massage feels really good! This model has 2 settings; delicate and power cleanse. Because I'm not using it every day, I typically go straight for the power cleanse mode. It has a timer built in, so all you need to do is wet the bristles, apply a small amount of cleanser (I have been using the one that came with it), press the power button, and let 'er rip. If you've been considering a Clarisonic, I'd definitely suggest looking into this compact model. At least for me, it has everything I need.
My skin is not perfect. And I have no desire for it to be so. I still deal with areas of texture, some redness and spots. But, it's been feeling better. And I really do think it looks better too. So to any skeptics out there (and to my own inner cynicism) I say, "Have a little hope. It's not lost yet."
